Explore the stops

Piazza Marina and Garibaldi Garden

Start with a loop around the square and pause in the shade of the garden’s large ficus trees. The square is a useful starting point for the Cala and the lanes of the Kalsa.

Palazzo Steri

The Steri overlooks Piazza Marina. If you want to see inside and learn about the palace’s history, check the visitor information before you set out.

Santa Maria della Catena

Head towards the Cala for the church of Santa Maria della Catena. Take a look at its portico before returning to the streets of the neighbourhood.

Palazzo Abatellis

Follow Via Alloro to the palace that houses the Regional Gallery of Sicily. If you plan to go inside, allow time for the galleries and check the opening hours.

Santa Maria degli Angeli, known as the Gancia

Find the Gancia church in the lanes of the Kalsa. Take in the façade and check access for the day if you would like to visit the interior.

San Francesco d’Assisi

Finish at the Basilica of San Francesco d’Assisi. Look for the doorway and rose window, then take a moment in the square before heading back.
